Photograph Restoration

About Restoration

One of the great benefits of working with digital media when restoring a photograph is that you can never make a mistake. You can always undo any action, and never have to worry about damaging the original photograph. A quick scan of the photo, and that's it. Even if the photograph is torn into a hundred places, you can scan them all in, and put it back together like a puzzle. With a little bit of work, pretty much any photograph can be restored.

The Process

In order to restore the photograph, I will need you to email me a scanned copy of the image. The photograph needs to be scanned in, at a DPI (dots per inch) of 300dpi, 1200dpi for negatives. If you don't own a scanner, you can visit any printing company like Kinkos, CopyCop, or Staples. CVS and Walgreens also offer scanning services. Once the image has been scanned, email it to me at restoration@mulcahy.org

If you are unable to scan the photograph yourself, feel free to mail it to me. I'll scan it in and mail it back to you with 1 business day. This is obviously a backup resort. It's much faster and easier to just scan it in.

Once I receive the photograph, I begin the restoration process. Once completed, I will upload a proof copy to my online gallery and email you a password to view your own proofs. Once you approve them, the photographs are sent. The whole process can take days to weeks depending on the severity of the photograph, and the number of photos. If you have a deadline, just mention it and we can work with it.

The Delivered Package

All restoration projects include the final image emailed to you. For an additional fee, you can also request the image printed and mailed off with a CD containing the electronic images of the photos.
